Ukraine Hope
            We are currently working with a shelter in Kiev Ukraine to improve their services. We will be visiting Ukraine in November to give your donations and visit other shelters for victims of domestic violence.

WHY UKRAINE?

• 50-70 percent of women in Ukraine are victims of domestic violence.
• Although Ukraine is 15% the size of the US, there are 150% more deaths due to domestic violence.
• There are only 22 domestic violence shelters in Ukraine. (The population of Ukraine is almost equal to the combined population of Oregon, Washington and California—except that there are over 200 shelters in those three states alone.)
• Ukrainian shelters have little governmental support to provide ongoing support.

Amnesty International [http://www.amnesty.org/en/library/info/EUR50/005/2006] concluded, “If women [in Ukraine] are to be able to escape the cycle of violence they must have access to temporary shelters and long-term safe housing.”  We are working with a shelter in Kiev that only has 10 spaces available and cannot afford to provide ongoing counseling or legal advice to their battered women. Through your volunteer efforts and donations we will help change that.
$20 will keep a woman and her family safe for one day.

Local Hope
            Domestic violence is not just something affecting the far off countries of the world. There are victims of domestic violence, shelters, support groups and hotlines in every community of the US that can use your support.
We are partnered with the Utah Healing Arts to work with shelters in the local communities providing support and healing through arts, music and service. If you live in Utah County and want to volunteer at a shelter, contact us and Get Involved.
